Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, attended yesterday the 2000 English Guineas Classic at Newmarket racecourse.
He was accompanied by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance.
The Godolphin team was crowned champion of the sixth round of the English Guineas race of one and quarter miles distance. The team was representative by Best of Times colt under the supervision of trainer Saeed bin Surur and jockeyed by Jimmy Spenser. The trophy was received by Sheikh Hamad bin Dalmouk Al Maktoum, on behalf of the Godolphin team.
Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum's Mutasayed colt finished first in the final round of the race of one mile distance, led by rider Powell Hagan. Meanwhile, the Godolphin team came second in the main round of the Group One of one mile distance.
Among others present were Sheikh Saeed bin Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, Sheikh Juma bin Dalmouk Al Maktoum, Sheikh Rashid bin Dalmouk Al Maktoum, Khalifa Saeed Suleiman, Director-General of Protocols and Hospitality Department in Dubai, Saeed Humaid Al Tayer, Chairman of Meydan, a number of officials and fans.
