Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak will travel to Japan this month for talks with Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe, the two governments said Tuesday, according to dpa.
The May 25 meeting was to cover regional issues, as Malaysia chairs the Association of South-East Asian Nations (ASEAN) this year, as well as bilateral topics such as Tokyo's assistance in infrastructure projects in the South-East Asian country.
'Japan is promoting dialogue and cooperation with Malaysia given that Japan attaches importance to relations with ASEAN,' Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga told a news conference.
The Malaysian premier's three-day visit 'will be a great opportunity to further deepen bonds and cooperative relations between the two countries,' Suga added.
