HH Sheikh Majid Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, attended the ceremony organized by the Human Rights Sector at the Community Development Authority (CDA) to honor the winning students and supporters of its Art \'&\' Culture Competition. This initiative, which was held under the patronage of Sheikh Majid Bin Mohammad in cooperation with the KHDA, aimed at spreading human rights culture at schools and instructing students about its importance in taking the nation forward. Khaled Al Kamda, Director of Community Development Authority (CDA), said: \"We thank H.H Sheikh Majid Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum for his continuous support to such events since it highlights the importance of human rights and has a large impact on humanitarian issues in the community\" He added: \"CDA continues to work with governmental and private stakeholders under the directives of a wise leadership to co-launch projects in this regard. This move is an innovative step to enhance public awareness about best human rights practices. I thank all the winners for their excellent and creative work, which reflects their keenness to participate in efforts that establish new horizons in best human rights practices in the UAE\". Dr Omar Al Shamisi, CEO of Human Rights Sector at CDA, said: \"We are committed to launch successful initiatives that are aimed at spreading the culture of human rights in all sectors in cooperation with our strategic partners, as it serves as an important tool to advance the nations\". The aim of the competition was to brief students on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, compare human rights\' Islamic values with those articulated in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and look at human rights issues from the perspective of the UAE society and child rights in particular. The competition agenda included a number of programmes such as a drawing and painting, short story, poetry, photography and calligraphy.
