Labour and Social Development Minister , Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan has praised the Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC)’s support for the empowerment and advancement of working women.
He also applauded its efforts to provide all facilities that help women play an active part in the Company’s development.
During a visit to GPIC complex, the minister met GPIC President, Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery and the Executive Management. He also held talks with the president and members of the Working Ladies Committee and expressed his admiration for their role in working towards achieving the Company’s mission through humanitarian projects and initiatives.
Humaidan commended the Company’s keenness on empowering Bahraini women and opening the horizons of professional and career development at GPIC’s production sites.
He also praised the charitable initiatives of the Working Ladies Committee and their contribution to the activities of associations for orphans, the elderly, the sick and the needy.
In a statement, Dr. Jawahery thanked the minister for his meeting with the Committee Chairperson and its members and for recognising its role in serving the Company’s goals and aspirations.
He said the role of the committee in supporting Bahraini women with equal participation in all programmes and activities of the Company is praiseworthy. He noted the important role played by the women in ensuring the stability of the Company and the success of its operations.
Dr. Jawahery said it is a matter of pride that all of GPIC’s departments have women workers and they are characterized by their love of work, ambition and willingness to give their best.
He said the Company would continue to support the committee in its efforts to serve the society in different categories.
GPIC’s Working Ladies Committee is one of its active committees and implements several activities throughout the year. Its activities include organising awareness lectures and educational and entertainment programmes for the Company’s employees and their families.
The Committee also provides community services bysupporting productive families, orphanages and parental care centres, as well as for people with disabilities.
