Rabat - Arab Today

King Mohammed VI is set to arrive in South Sudan on Friday for a three-day official visit, local media reported on Thursday.

During a press conference held Wednesday, it was announced by South Sudan’s Minister of Information and Government Spokesman, Michael Makuei Lueth,  that the King of Morocco will arrive in the capital, Juba, on Friday.

According to Lueth, the King’s visit to South Sudan, which gained its independence in 2011, is intended to deepen bilateral relations between the two countries.

The minister went on to say that his country’s Council of Ministers listened to the report on the preparation for the visit, noting that preparations to receive the King and all the documents that will be signed have already been organized and negotiated.

“The King’s visit will start on January 20 with a public and official reception at the international airport in Juba,” the minister added. “He will hold talks with President Sava Kiir and other government officials on issues of mutual interest between the two countries.”

During his visit, the King will be accompanied by members of the government and his advisors. Discussion between the king and his Sudanese counterpart will revolve about ways to deepen bilateral relations between the two countries.

Morocco World News reported on Wednesday that King Mohammed VI’s three-day visit to Ghana, which was set to begin yesterday, had been postponed.
