His Majesty King Abdullah II on Tuesday paid a surprise visit to the Baqaa refugee camp where he was briefed about the conditions and needs of the refugees in camps across the Kingdom and the damage caused by the snow storm that hit the Kingdom in the past few days. King Abdullah directed the concerned authorities, the armed forces and various security apparatuses to help in providing the refugee camps with the necessary services and basic commodities, particularly for communities hit hard by the severe weather. During the visit, part of an inspection tour he undertook of various areas over the past days, King Abdullah instructed authorities to give all forms of assistance to citizens in the areas stricken by bad weather. His Majesty also called on the civil defence department in the city of Salt, where he urged officers to intensify their efforts in collaboration with all other authorities to deal with the aftermath of the snow storm. He instructed various authorities to continue to open roads, secure services and ensure delivery of basic needs to citizens as quickly as possible. King Abdullah began his field tours in the past days with a surprise visit to the Interior Ministry's operations room where he was briefed by Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour and senior officials on efforts to deal with the aftermath of the blizzard and provide services to the public. He also met the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, commanders of the northern and southern military zones and governors and senior officials in the northern and southern regions and instructed them to be prompt in providing aid to citizens, particularly the hardest hit communities and those in the remote areas.
