US Secretary of State John Kerry on Friday left Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, where he underwent surgery last week to reset a broken leg, and said he plans to rejoin international negotiations on Iran’s nuclear talks for the “last slog” at the end of the month.
Kerry spent nearly two weeks recovering at the hospital and said he remained fully engaged in the Iran talks while there, The Wall Street Journal reported.
He’s returning to his home in Boston to continue recovering from a broken right femur, suffered in a cycling crash May 31 in France near the Swiss border, that forced him to cut short a trip to Europe.
Speaking to reporters just before leaving the hospital, Kerry said he plans to travel to Europe to join the negotiations after scheduled meetings with Chinese officials in Washington later this month.
“I’ll be traveling over there at the appropriate moment in the next days in order to press forward at this critical moment in the negotiations,” Kerry said, balancing himself on crutches.
