Iraqi President Fuad Masum will start a visit to Egypt soon, Egypt's Ambassador here Ahmed Darwish said.
Egypt is keen to promote cooperation with Iraq in all fields under the directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, the envoy told MENA correspondent here following a meeting with head of the Iraqi Islamic Supreme Council Ammar al Hakim.
Darwish said he reiterated during the meeting the fruitful cooperation between the Egyptian Civil Aviation Ministry and the Iraqi Transport Ministry and between the national airlines of both countries.
Cooperation needs to be strengthened between Al Azhar and the Marja' (religious reference) of Najaf to stop attempts by Takfiris with foreign agendas to distort Islam, Darwish said.
Egypt had dispatched a parliamentary delegation, led by deputy speaker Mahmoud el Sherif, to attend a conference of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States, which concluded Sunday in Baghdad, he added.
