The International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) will host next Monday February 6 "The Syrian crisis: Internal dynamics and international diplomacy." The talk will address the development of the government's crackdown in Syria and will have IISS' Senior Fellow for Regional Security Emile Hokayem, Senior Fellow for US Foreign Policy and Transatlantic Affairs Dana Allin and Senior Fellow for Land Warfare Ben Barry as speakers. Working in Manama, Bahrain, Mr Horkayem has recently met Syrian activists, opposition leaders and defectors and will refer about their experience. Mr. Allin is instead the Editor of Survival and Senior Fellow for Transatlantic Affairs at the IISS in London. He is the co-author of The Sixth Crisis: Iran, Israel, America and the Rumors of War. Brigadier Ben Barry is IISS Senior Fellow for Land Warfare. His extensive British Army experience will include an analysis of the lessons of the Iraq campaign. The event will be chaired by ISS' Director of Stuides Adam Ward and will be held in one of the Institute's main room at noon.
