Foreign Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, affirmed that the Gulf Cooperation Council leaders’ Summit with the President of the United States, Donald Trump, reflects the pivotal role played by the GCC countries in consolidating the foundations of peace and stability regionally and internationally.
This came in the Minister’s statement at the opening of the GCC Ministerial Council Meeting in its 143rd session which was held today in Riyadh, the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, adding that the meeting aims to prepare for the 17th GCC leaders’ consultative meeting and for the USA-GCC Summit, to be held in Riyadh during the visit of President Donald Trump to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
This meeting reflects the important role of the GCC countries in light of their responsible positions and continuous efforts in facing the challenges and threats facing the region and the world and in light of their keenness to deepen partnership and cooperation with effective allies, in order to establish prosperity in the region and achieve development and prosperity for their countries, the Minister said.
He expressed his sincere wishes for a successful meeting for the good and well-being of the GCC countries and peoples, in line with the wise directives of the GCC leaders and to advance joint efforts towards broader multi-level cooperation horizons.
“This also in order for the GCC states to achieve further unity and cohesion, enhance their accomplishments, preserve their safety and develop their gains to meet the aspirations and hopes of the GCC peoples”.
The GCC Foreign Ministers discussed a number of reports on follow-up of the implementation of the decisions of the Supreme Council, memoranda and reports raised by the ministerial Committees and the General Secretariat on joint work and topics relating to the strategic dialogues between the GCC countries and a number of friendly countries and blocs, in addition to the latest regional and international developments.
