Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn will be taking part in Egypt Economic Development Conference (EEDC), which kicks off at the Red Sea resort of Sharm el Sheikh on Friday.
Hailemariam will be leading a high-ranking delegation of Ethiopian officials to the EEDC.
This will be his first visit to Egypt since he assumed the premiership in Ethiopia, said Mahmoud Derir, the Ethiopian Ambassador in Cairo, in statements to MENA on Tuesday.
He had visited Egypt before as Ethiopian foreign minister, Derir added.
This visit, however, comes at a time when relations between Cairo and Addis Ababa have returned to normal under the leadership of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn, Derir said.
It also comes at a time when negotiations on the renaissance dam are tangibly progressing and views are brought closer, the diplomat said, noting this would help boost cooperation among eastern Nile Basin states.
