Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry arrived here Friday on a two-day visit as he leads a delegation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s Ministerial Contact Committee on Defending the Cause of Palestine.
The delegation, which comprises the OIC secretary general and the foreign ministers of Palestine, Azerbaijan and Guinea, will discuss with the Chinese side the latest Palestinian developments and the OIC’s efforts to help declare a Palestinian state.
The Egyptian foreign minister will also have talks on Egypt-China relations in light of the outcome of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s China visit in December and an expected Cairo visit in April by Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Shoukry will meet his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi this afternoon to be followed by a meeting between Wang and the OIC delegation, Egyptian Ambassador here Magdy Amer had said earlier.
