Prime Minister Sherif Ismail arrived Friday morning in the South African capital Johannesburg where he takes part in the China-Africa Forum.
Accompanied by Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, Ismail leads Egypt's delegation to the two-day summit which opens later on Friday.
The premier was received at the airport by Egyptian Ambassador to South Africa Sherif Nabil and members of the Egyptian diplomatic mission to the country.
The Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) was formally established at a ministerial meeting in Beijing in October 2000 under a joint initiative of China and Africa with the purposes of further strengthening friendly cooperation between the two sides, jointly meeting the challenges of economic globalization and seeking common development.
Egypt co-chaired the FOCAC with China from 2006 to 2012.
