Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry will participate in the opening session of the 2015 Review Conference of the Parties to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) to open here on Monday.
Shoukry told MENA that the conference is of special importance to Egypt, especially as Egypt played a pioneering role in drafting a resolution calling for freeing the Middle East from weapons of mass destruction.
The resolution is stemming from the Egyptian initiative that was floated in 1995, he said, noting that no practical step has been taken to activate this initiative so far.
