Manama - Emirates Voice

His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa has extended deepest congratulations to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Bahraini people and the Arab and Islamic nations on the new Hijri year, 1439, wishing them many happy returns of the occasion.

Chairing the regular weekly Cabinet session, attended by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, at the Gudaibiya Palace today, HRH Premier also expressed hope that security, peace, stability and prosperity will prevail during the new year.

While reviewing the needs and remarks of the citizens across the kingdom’s towns and villages, HRH the Prime Minister gave directives to meet the needs of Jid Hafs concerning services and facilities in order to fulfill the aspirations of the local villagers, requesting service ministers to follow up on the needs of the village in the fields of municipal services, housing, health, education and other services, a post-session statement by the Cabinet Secretary-General, Dr. Yasser bin Isa Al-Nasser, said.

In a related context, HRH Premier also requested the Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Minister, to visit the Nuwaidrat Market, and identify the needs of vendors and visitors, and to provide everything required by the market so that it continues serving the Nuwaidrat villagers, and to preserve the civilisational aspects of the region.

On the other, the Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Ministry was tasked with providing all services and ensuring the cleanliness of streets and public areas, especially those hosting the Ashoora commemoration rituals.

While reviewing the memoranda on its agenda, the session approved, upon a recommendation by the Executive Committee, under the chairmanship of HRH the Crown Prince, a number of draft decree-laws, and decided the take the necessary constitutional and legal procedures to issue them.

The bills aim to strengthen the legislative environment, facilitate procedures for investors and develop the kingdom’s infrastructure.

The cabinet then approved the establishment of a solar power plant in Bahrain to generate 100 megawatts of electricity by solar energy.

This comes within the framework of the government’s keenness to use renewable sources of energy, including solar power, in line with the National Renewable Energy Plan approved by the Cabinet and the recommendations of the Executive Committee, a memorandum submitted by the Minister of Electricity and Water Affairs said.

The project will be put out to tender in February 2018, and is expected to be completed in 2019.

The session also endorsed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for cooperation in the religious field between the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments in Bahrain and the State Commission for Religious Affairs (SCRA) in Kyrgyzstan.
The relevant minister was mandated to sign the MoU, as highlighted in light of the memorandum submitted by the Deputy Premier and Chairman of the Ministerial Committee for Legal Affairs in this regard.

The cabinet also referred to the Ministerial Committee for Legal Affairs, following a presentation by the Minister of Health, an MoU on cooperation between Bahrain’s Ministry of Health and South Korean Health and Welfare Ministry in the field of health care and medical sciences.

The session reviewed three draft-laws proposed by the Council of Representatives on amending Article (127 bis) of the Code of Criminal Procedures, promulgated by Decree-Law 46/2002, amending Article (20) of the Code of Construction (Law on Regulating Buildings), issued as per Decree-Law 13/1977, and amending some provisions of the Law on Reformation and Rehabilitation establishment, promulgated by Law 18/2014.

The three bills were referred to the Council of Representatives, along with memoranda on the government’s opinions on them.

The cabinet also discussed two proposals submitted by the Council of Representatives on the shrimping ban period, and on the members of the diplomatic missions in the kingdom’s embassies, and approved the government’s replies to them, as recommended by the Ministerial Committee for Legal Affairs.
