As a high-level guest, HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh attended the 2017 International Humanitarian Forum on Humanitarian Funds organized under the patronage of Prime Minister HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, in the presence of ministers and representatives of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and countries supporting the humanitarian funds affiliate of the Forum.
Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh participated in launching four new humanitarian funds to support the Al Quds and Palestine affairs, mosques, orphans and water in OIC member-states.
During his participation, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh concentrated on two main issues; the need to formulate transparency and disclosure standards in terms of the reports of the Islamic donor organizations, and to make use of information technologies in the provision of education mainly for refugees and disadvantaged categories. He also underlined the pioneering and successful experiences conduced by Talal Abu-Ghazaleh University in this field.
It is noteworthy that Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh has been elected to the Board of Trustees of the Islamic Council of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Humanitarian Fund (OICHF) as the only representative of the private sector, while the other members officially represent their organizations.
At the end of the venue, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh was honored with the Forum's Humanitarian Work Shield in recognition of his efforts and invaluable contributions in supporting OIC's humanitarian funds.
