H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, toured the Viking Ship Museum on the Bygdoy peninsula in Oslo on Sunday as part of his official visit to Norway.
Accompanied by Borge Brende, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Norway, and Mohammed Ibrahim Al Juwaied, UAE Ambassador to Norway, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah viewed the world's best-preserved Viking ships and finds from Viking tombs around the Oslo Fjord which were discovered in 1867.
Opened in 1957, the Viking Ship Museum shows discoveries from the Gokstad, Oseberg and Tune ships, plus small boats, sledges, a beautiful cart, tools, textiles and household utensils. The museum features several ships, objects and artifacts that tell Viking's intriguing 1100 year old stories.
Sheikh Abdullah said he was pleased to visit the historic museum that narrates the civilisation and history of Norway.
