U.A.E. Foreign Minister took part in the meeting of the GCC foreign ministers, held in Jeddah yesterday.
The ministers expressed their appreciation to the efforts made by the committees tasked with implementing the Riyadh Agreement. They issued a statement at the end of the meeting in which they said they discussed the latest developments in the region and emphasised the need to rally efforts to stop bloodshed and to combat extremist and terrorist movements to boost regional security and stability.
The ministers praised the speech made by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz of Saudi Arabia last Friday and his call for confronting terrorism and his warning of sedition.
They voiced condemnation of the aggression and war crimes committed by the Israeli forces in Gaza and their rejection of all justifications made by Israel.
They also renewed their firm stand by the brotherly people of Palestine and the Palestinian Authority and commended the vital role played by Egypt to reach a ceasefire in Gaza and to arrive at a lasting peace that ends the humanitarian plight and enhances security and stability there.
The ministers welcomed the election of Iraqi President Mohammed Fouad Masoum and his mandate to the Prime Minister Dr Hayder Al Abadi to form a new government, as well as the election of Saleem Al Jobouri as Speaker of the Parliament.
