Prince Saud Al-Faisal, Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs chaired on Sunday a meeting of foreign ministers of Arab member states of the International Contact Group on Syria to discuss the overall situation in the region and latest developments in Syria.
U.A.E. Foreign Minister H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and his Egyptian and Qatari counterparts as well as Nawaf Al-Tal, Adviser to Minister of Foreign Affairs of Jordan, attended the meeting, which discussed the latest developments in Syria and regional and international arenas, in addition to the challenges faced by the Middle East, including the growth of extremist and terrorist ideology and turmoil in some Arab countries and their serious repercussions on the countries of the region and threat to international peace and security.
Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said the meeting was characterised by congruence of views on the issues discussed and the need to address them to maintain security and stability in Arab countries.
The ministers agreed to crystallise theirs views and then present them to the Arab League so as to be discussed in detail with other Arab League member states.
