The Minister of Culture, Art and Heritage, HE Dr Abdulaziz al-Kuwari yesterday highlighted the positive impact of the Doha Tribeca Film Festival on the development of culture in Qatar. The minister expressed his delight at the fact that the festival has attracted attention from an international audience. “I am very pleased that Qatar is becoming a cultural hub for the world,” he said. He stated that the third edition of the festival has continued its trend of becoming bigger and better every year. He praised the efforts of HH Sheikha Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani for establishing the festival in Doha and her work in promoting cinema throughout Qatar and the region. He also highlighted the work of the festival’s executive director, Amanda Palmer, and the “unknown soldiers” who work behind the scenes to ensure that everything runs smoothly.
