Crocodile spotted in Beirut river
Beirut -  Georges Chahine?

Crocodile spotted in Beirut river Beirut -  Georges Chahine? After weeks of tracking, a crocodile apparently living by the Beirut River has been caught on camera by Lebanese newspaper Al Joumhouria, it reported on Wednesday. After receiving reports from eyewitnesses, journalists at the Lebanese daily trailed of the young croc for two weeks before spotting it at the mouth of the river nearest the sea, an ?area just a few metres away from human life..
Veterinarian Dr Waleed Darwish told the newspaper that the crocodile, thought to be between three and five years old, is of ?the African Crocodylus Niloticus variety, which is one of the most dangerous types of crocodile in the world, responsible for the death of hundreds of humans each year
The ‘Nile crocodile’, as the type is commonly known, usually grows to between four to six metres long and weighs about ??500 kg.  The reptile species are very fierce stalking predators and can wait hours, days or even weeks for ?the right moment to attack its prey and drag it to the water.?
The newspaper warned passers-by to keep their distance from the area where the crocodile was ?spotted, and asked citizens not to attempt to kill the creature, saying it should be left to proper specialist authorities to deal with the matter.
