H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, the Family Development Foundation and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, has been named 'Mother of Arabs' by the Arab Producers Union (APU) and the Arab Woman Campaign.
This was announced by Sheikh Nahayan bin Mabarak Al Nahayan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development, during a press conference held yesterday at his palace in the presence of Dr. Maitha bint Salem Al Shamsi, Minister of State, Dr. Mustafa Salama, Secretary General of the APU and Dr. Rihab Zain al Din, Ambassador of the Arab Women.
Sheikh Nahayan further said the ministry will organise a ceremony at the Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi on 28th March to celebrate the granting of the title, in collaboration with the APU.
He added that the ministry will also sponsor several activities in celebration of the coveted title bestowed upon Sheikha Fatima, including launching a website under the name 'Mother of the Arabs'.
"This occasion is an opportunity for us to express our gratitude and respect to H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak. We aim to highlight this celebration as a national event and a platform to express the affections and reverence we hold for Sheikha Fatima, and for her great role in the community and the (Arab) nation at large," Sheikh Nahyan said.
Sheikh Nahyan revealed that the honouring of Sheikha Fatima will be celebrated under the slogan, 'Mother of the Emirates is a source of pride for the Arabs'.
