The first conference of the Islamic, Educational, Scientific and Culture Organization (ISESCO) for education ministers, which started proceedings here on Thursday, has chosen Tunis as capital of education in the Islamic world for the year 2016.
Addressing the opening ceremony of the two-day conference, Tunisian Minister of Education Neji Jalloul said the choice of Tunis as the Islamic education capital for 2016 comes in appreciation of its strenuous efforts in educational reforms and its new experiment in this vital area.
The conference offers an opportunity for probing the Tunisian experiment in educational reforms, he added.
Jalloul met with Egyptian Minister of Education Helali el Sherbini upon his arrival to attend the conference.
The conference is attended by 30 education ministers from Muslim countries and representatives from 15 international agencies. It is held under the auspices of the Tunisian presidency and in tandem with ISESCO.
