In order to strengthen the cooperation and strategic partnership between the two parties, Dubai Women Establishment and Zayed University signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), last Tuesday, with the sole objective to unite their efforts in boosting the participation of UAE national women and help them to achieve personal and professional developmental goals.
This cooperation comes under the wise directives of H.H. Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Women Establishment and wife of H.H Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, UAE; and in line with Dubai Women Establishments ongoing objectives to facilitate preparation of qualified cadre of working women, to play an active role in the development of the Nation, be it on an academic, societal or professional level.
The ultimate goal and responsibility of DWE is to nurture a competent generation of future women leaders by establishing the right infrastructure and platform to ensure and sustain the success and potential of UAE women, in line with the aspirations of the wise UAE leadership for the future where women will carry their rightful responsibilities as influencers and change makers.
The signing ceremony was held at the headquarters of Zayed University in Dubai, in the presence of Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi, Minister of International Cooperation and Development, President of Zayed University and Mona Ghanem Al-Marri, Chairperson the Board of Dubai Women Establishment; as well as representatives from the two institutions.
The MoU was co-signed by Shamsa Saleh, CEO of Dubai Women Establishment and Dr. Riad Abdul Latif Al Muhaidib, Vice-President of Zayed University.
Sheikha Lubna welcomed strengthening of the partnership opportunities with Dubai Women Establishment, stressing that the University is keen to build bridges of cooperation and exchange views and ideas with all national institutions as well as giving advice based on solid scientific foundations, seeking thereby to support the efforts and initiatives of those institutions in their respective areas of interest and competence.
She stressed that this is part of the social responsibility of the university as a national institution. It envisages connecting its intellectual and academic work with the national interest, and keeping its scientific research activities constantly engaged with the interests of the community.
Sheikha Lubna added that the roles of Dubai Women Establishment are remarkable in strengthening the position of women in society as a key component and active partner in the development process, and this complements the Zayed University's message and objectives in developing new leaders amongst its students and graduates to participate in the making of the future.
Al-Marri expressed her pleasure at the establishment of this collaboration with Zayed University, emphasising the importance of this partnership, which embodies the wise policy set by the wise leadership to develop the potential and skills of human resources to contribute to its role in driving growth and overall development.
She added, "This agreement reflects Dubai Women Establishment's commitment to support and associate with organisations that share our vision to develop the potential of UAE women, and empower them with the skills and experience to make them valued contributors of society.
Al Marri also praised the significant role played by Zayed University to enable students to acquire the necessary expertise, and enrich their knowledge and experience in various fields, which in turn will facilitate their transition from university into the work force.
The memorandum of understanding, which lasts for three years, will see both parties benefit from a mutual exchange of ideas and policies, and most importantly share valuable experience and studies relating to women, and best practices in the field of women, both in terms of social and administrative.
The agreement also reinforces the cooperation between the organisations to participate in forums and international events. Moreover, DWE & ZU will work together to formulate crucial training programmes for graduates to advance their professional abilities and the development of practical experiences.
