Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, has received a number of teachers and education leaders including Hussain bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi, Minister of Education, and Dr. Amal Al Qubaisi, Director-General of Abu Dhabi Education Council, at Qasr Al Bahr Palace.

Sheikh Mohamed praised the efforts being made by educators to prepare qualified future generations. He also underlined that educational institutions should double their efforts, harness their capability and join hands to immunise generations against destructive ideology and promote the values of national loyalty, co-operation and solidarity to enable the youth to face the challenges.

The educational delegation was on a visit to H.H. Sheikh Mohamed on the occasion of World Teachers' Day, observed on 5th October each year to celebrate the achievements and efforts of educators across the world.

"Empowering teachers, building sustainable societies" is the World Teachers' Day slogan for 2015.

H.H. Sheikh Mohamed added that promotion of national values, like loyalty and service of the country's interests and causes, should be prioritised in education.

He stressed that the UAE, under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has a strong belief in the crucial importance of improving the educational system to keep pace with global developments. Describing teachers as the cornerstone of this system, he said they should be empowered to fulfil their mission of preparing qualified generations that use their knowledge, skill and efficiency to serve their religion, country and society.

The crown prince of Abu Dhabi thanked teachers for their sincere and continuous efforts to serve education and students.

"We take pride in what you are giving to your country. We are aware of the huge responsibility that you shoulder to prepare the generations of this dear country. I pray to Allah Almighty to bless you all with success to achieve your goals in education," he said.

"The role of schools is growing more than ever before. We are confident that teachers can take on the responsibility and are fully aware of the pivotal role that education plays in promoting progress and sustainable development in the UAE that has become an inspiring model," H.H. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed added.

The visiting teachers and education leaders expressed appreciation to the country's leadership, namely President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed, for the special interest they take in education. They noted that the leaders extend unlimited support to education.

They also praised the crown prince of Abu Dhabi for his message on the occasion of World Teachers' Day in which he underlined the importance of human resources in the UAE as the real national wealth and precious capital.

In the message published on Sunday, Sheikh Mohamed said that the UAE is celebrating the role of teachers on this day to honour the entire education system and exemplify the teachers' central role in building the future of the UAE.
