The UAE Foreign Minister, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, met yesterday with UAE students enrolled at universities and higher colleges in Melbourne and Sydney during his official visit to Australia.
At the outset of the meeting, HH conveyed the greetings of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and His Highness General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, to the students, noting that the wise leadership lends top priority to higher education.
The leadership, he emphasised, spares no effort or funds for the sake of qualifying citizens at the highest international academic levels in order that they can participate in the process of sustainable development with high efficiency, excellence and ability.
Sheikh Abdullah reassured the students of the State's keenness to follow up on their educational progress and of the wise leadership's commitment to provide them with all means and resources that enable them to put in more effort to reach their goals of obtaining the highest qualifications in order to serve their nation.
HH said,' Emirati students and scholars studying abroad act as ambassadors to their nation and should present the bright civilised image of the UAE while they are progressing ahead, armed with science and knowledge so as to contribute with their expertise to the development and progress the UAE is witnessing in all walks of life.' During the meeting, Sheikh Abdullah was briefed on the areas of study of the students as well as about their academic and living conditions in Australia.
He urged them to strive for success and distinction, so as to contribute to the building of the future of their nation.
The Foreign Minister expressed his delight at meeting with the students and at their strong determination to meet their academic goals, which, he said, would please both their families and nation. While applauding their high spirit and perseverance, though far away from their homeland, Sheikh Abdullah also urged them to be patient, diligent and study hard so as to obtain distinction and become top achievers.
For their part, the students expressed their happiness and pride at meeting Sheikh Abdullah, pledging that they would live up to the UAE leadership's expectations in their academic life and obtain the highest degrees so as to contribute to the progress of the nation. They also expressed thanks and appreciation to the State for providing them with services and support that enable them to study comfortably.
