Ras Al Khaima Ruler Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi
H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras al-Khaimah today at his palace receives the team and members of the judging panels of the Al Bayt television programme, an initiative of Dubai's
Hamdan bin Mohammed Heritage Centre focusing on Nabati poetry, the popular vernacular poetry of Arabian tribes.
In his remarks during the meeting, H.H. Sheikh Saud applauded the support extended by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Their Highnesses the Supreme Council Members and Ruler of the Emirates, to efforts to revive and preserve Nabati poetry as a traditional literature style in U.A.E. and all other countries.
Abdullah Hamdan bin Dalmouk, Head of the bin Mohammed Heritage Centre, briefed Sheikh Saud on the goals of the 13-episode show which concludes next Monday.
Al Bayt is the region's largest Nabati poetry contest and is being aired by Dubai's Sama TV bringing together prominent Arab poets with the aim of nurturing young poetic skills and reviving Nabai poetry.
