Israeli soldiers fired a rubber bullet into al-Azza’s face at close range
A Palestinian cameraman was shot in the face with a rubber-coated metal bullet by Israeli troops near Bethlehem, according to Palestinian medical sources.Palestine News Network
(PNN) has reported that Mohammad Waleed al-Azza was shot during clashes that took place between Israeli soldiers invading the Aida refugee camp and local youths who hurled stones at them.
Al-Azza, who works at the Refugee Media Centre in addition to freelancing for PNN and other agencies, was reportedly attacked in attempts to stop him documenting clashes.
Soldiers attempted to push him away from firing at close range.
Al-Azza’s medical condition is said to be “moderate,” while he has been transferred to Bethlehem Arab Society for Rehabilitation for surgery.
Several reporters have been injured in recent clashes between soldiers and Palestinians in different parts of the occupied West Bank in recent months.
