His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, affirmed the important role played by the media in shaping the present and the future of the region, and in strengthening determination, mobilising energies and supporting builders, innovators and those who give reason for hope.
H.H. also pointed out the media's responsibility in dealing with the challenges that this region is facing.
Sheikh Mohammad was speaking while honouring 22 local media organisations during the third Emirati Media Forum in the presence of an elite group of editors-in-chief, media leaders and prominent intellectuals, journalists, writers and academics.
He emphasised the UAE's stand in favour of the legitimate government in Yemen, and said the nation will continue to support the oppressed people and provide aid to the needy all across the world.
Addressing the local media at the third edition of the Emirati Media Forum (EMF), H.H. said, 'Adhere, as you have always done, to professionalism and honesty because these are the foundations for the media work that the UAE needs in its society. You have our full support; our doors are always open to interact with you and all segments of society. I closely follow the media to learn about issues that affect people's lives."
"There is nothing more important than disclosing the truth to debunk lies. The UAE, its leadership and courageous soldiers will continue to support the legitimate government and defending those who have been aggrieved, under the banner of right and justice. Our youth are well and always ready to defend our state's gains and achievements," said Sheikh Mohammad.
Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, UAE Minister of State and Chairman of the National Media Council (NMC), received the honour for the NMC.
During the forum, HH Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, also awarded the winners of a documentary competition titled The Nation's Martyrs.
This year, the third edition of the forum discussed the performance of the local media in coping with regional developments with a focus on Yemen.
