Ould Herma said the step will connect Mauritius to the world
The Mauritian minister of information announced on Thursday that starting from May 31, Mauritians worldwide will be able to access channels one and two of Mauritanian TV and radio
.
Ould Herma said that according to agreements with Arab satellite TV organisations both channels one and two and the holy Quran radio station will be available worldwide. The minister credited the move as “a step to connect the Mauritian colonies with their mother country.”
Since 2002 some Mauritian programmes have been transmitted to Jordan.
In 2012, an agreement between Mauritius and Arab TV organizations allowed Maritius use of various transmission frequencies.
