Speculation surrounds whether Hilary Clinton will run for 2016 presidential elections
London – Naeem Arzu
CNN and NBC have been told to axe shows on Hillary Clinton, by Republican chief Reince Pribus, or face the party from pulling out of the 2016 US Primary debates
, aired on the channels.
In a statement posted on the Republican National Committee’s website, he said \"It\'s appalling to know executives at major networks like NBC and CNN who have donated to Democrats and Hillary Clinton have taken it upon themselves to be Hillary Clinton\'s campaign operatives,\" He added that, \"Their actions to promote Secretary Clinton are disturbing and disappointing”.
CNN said in a statement it had commissioned a documentary about the life of the former First Lady and Secretary of State, to be aired in 2014. It said, “Instead of making premature decisions about a project that is in the very early stages of development and months from completion, we would encourage the members of the Republican National Committee to reserve judgment until they know more. Should they decide not to participate in debates on CNN, we would find it curious, as limiting their debate participation seems to be the ultimate disservice to voters”.
Pribus threatened both networks, that if the productions were not cancelled before the RNC’s summer meeting, he would seek a vote, “to prevent the committee from partnering with these networks in 2016 primary debates or sanctioning debates they sponsor.\"
He accused CNN Worldwide and NBC of giving ‘special treatment’ to Clinton ahead of a possible presidential bid in 2016.
