Villa Muthee, located in the Maldives, is one of the largest overwater villas in the region with marvelous position which make it the first choice for many guests of the resort. Villa Muthee was built on 570sq metres and has palm-thatched pavilions that wrap around a generous pool deck. The entrance is via a wooden bridge that's hidden behind double doors, where a pair of flaming torches bestow a dramatic sense of arrival.
A spacious master suite monopolises the first pavilion. Full-height sliding glass doors flood the dual aspect bedroom with light and give direct access to both the pool and a terrace with steps to the sea. Inside, the tone is set by polished wood and a restful palette of creams and browns. Rich fabrics add splashes of colour, while Eastern influences are evident in Jain lamps and mother-of-pearl accents. A passage connects the bedroom (via walk-in wardrobe and twin dressing tables) to a bathroom so big that it's housed in a separate wing. Its centrepiece is a circular tub set beneath double-height wooden beams; there's also a choice of showers, one indoors and one open-air.
The other pavilion comprises living and entertainment space including home cinema and dining for six. For al-fresco feasting, there's more dining space beneath a poolside pergola that's adjacent to an open-air kitchen for convenient catering. The terrace and deck also offer a choice of spots for relaxing in sun or shade, with options spanning hammocks, daybeds, sofas and rattan loungers. Pride of place, however, is reserved for the infinity pool, which runs almost the full length of the terrace. Its colour closely melds with that of the lagoon into whose waters it seemingly flows.
