Clouds form over a remote rocky outcrop in the Faroe Islands
It might look like a giant minty cupcake but this stunning picture is actually a bizarre cloud formation over a remote rocky island.Perched on top of the rocky outcrop Lmtla Dmmu, in the Faroe Islands
, the little cloud seems be spread over it like icing sugar.
The unusual phenomenon at Lmtla Dmmu - the smallest and only uninhabited of the main 18 islands - was caught on camera by Italian tourist Andrea Ricordi.
The amateur photographer couldn\'t believe his eyes when he spied the odd cloud formation while taking the ferry between the Faroes capital Torshavn and the southern island of Supuroy.
The 40-year-old, from Pavia, Italy, said: \'It was an amazingly clear and bright day except this one cloud was so stubborn and it was right there on top of the island.
\'It looked like a big cake or something with icing sugar on top and I was surprised because it was quite low in the sky.
\'I thought I must get a picture to show my friends back home and I was really happy with the result.\'
Lmtla Dmmu is only inhabited by feral sheep and seabirds and is surrounded for the most part by steep high-sided cliffs.
At the island - which is about 250 acres in area - is also home to the mountain Slfttirnir which reaches 414 metres or 1,358 feet at its highest point.
