If you’re planning a trip to New York or Toronto next month, be prepared to pony up as the two cities have emerged among the most expensive to sleep in.
The results of TravelMag.com’s survey of hotels in major cities in North America aren’t that surprising: Two of the biggest cities on the continent also happen to be the most expensive for hotel stays at luxury brands.
For the ranking, the survey compared the average rates for a regular double room at hotels in major cities during the month of October.
Topping the US list is the Soho House located in the Meatpacking District, where the average room rate a night clocks in at $1,189.
All with the exception of one hotel -- Skylofts at MGM Grand in Las Vegas -- on the index come from New York.
Canada’s most expensive hotel is the Four Seasons in Toronto. Interestingly, the average room rate there is less than half the price of its equivalent in New York.
Though the Canadian list is also dominated by its largest metropolis with six of the 10 spots, Montreal and Vancouver are also represented.
Here are the results for the US:
1. Soho House (New York City) $1189
