Egyptian Tourism Minister, Hesham Zaazoua, visited Red Sea Governorate on ?Monday to check on the security situation following the current turmoil in Egypt
.
Hurghada has witnessed a decline in tourists, with many bringing their current trips to an end as international ministries issue travel warnings.
Furthermore, hotel occupancy rates have dropped by fifty percent in the region.
Meanwhile, Russia\'s foreign ministry sent a delegate to Hurghada in order to inspect the situation and monitor any protests or violent acts that could threaten Russian tourists in the area.
Upon their arrival, the Russian delegate visited a number of squares in Hurghada where previous rallies have taken place.
The delegates confirmed that the region is \"calm\" and \"distant from current events,\" adding that Russian tourists are \"currently safe.\"
