Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority, DSOA, the regulatory body for Dubai Silicon Oasis, the integrated free zone technology park, has announced the launch of the DSOA 2021 Strategy as part of its commitment to proactively contribute to the goals set by Dubai Plan 2021.
The DSOA 2021 Strategy was unveiled by Dr Mohammed Alzarooni, Vice-Chairman and CEO of DSOA, at an annual staff gathering event yesterday.
Addressing employees, Dr Alzarooni commended His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority, for his continuous support and direction in leading Dubai Silicon Oasis from strength to strength.
He also called upon employees to contribute their best in their journey towards excellence and race to the summit. In this context, he quoted the words of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, who said, "Without challenges, we cannot taste success and happiness."
Highlighting the core aspects of the DSOA 2021 Strategy, Dr Alzarooni said, "The strategy is built around four primary pillars that are aligned with the Dubai Plan 2021: a smart city, an advanced technology hub, innovative people and a desirable society. Each of these pillars will serve as distinctive guiding principles even while collectively working to achieve the overall direction set by the country's visionary leadership."
Through the first pillar, DSOA will aim to develop a smart, integrated and connected city that optimises its resources sustainably over the long-term, and ensures excellence across the built environment. The second pillar reiterates DSO's commitment to its existing vision and mission, and to consolidating its leading position as the preferred investment destination for foreign capital specifically for companies working in the technology industry, and the most business friendly free zone in Dubai. With the third pillar, DSOA seeks to increase the employees' innovation, experience and happiness to ensure staff members remain confident about their future and take pride in their jobs. Lastly, through the fourth pillar DSOA will seek to create a transparent and secure environment that preserves the rights of individuals and institutions.
Dr Mohammed Alzarooni added, "In line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, DSOA reiterates its support to the Dubai Plan 2021. Through the DSOA 2021 Strategy, we will build on the four pillars and achieve the overall goal outlined by our leaders. We will also focus on ensuring sustainable financial growth through diversification. DSO will be home to leading innovation centres with a continued commitment to supporting entrepreneurs in the years to come."
During the event, Dr Alzarooni launched three initiatives that support the government's strategic direction to promote innovation. DSOA has instituted an award to recognise the best ideas from employees on artificial intelligence and robotics. A cash prize of Dh100,000 will be awarded to the top three innovative ideas.
Additionally, DSOA launched the concept of an ‘innovation stadium' that will serve as an enabling platform to bring the prize-winning ideas to life.
The staff gathering concluded with the distribution of distinction awards to various departments of Dubai Silicon Oasis that participated in the European Foundation for Quality Management Excellence Model.
The Dubai Plan 2021 was officially launched in December 2014, impacting and involving every individual and institution in Dubai, Emiratis, residents, visitors, government departments, businesses, and international organisations. It speaks to everyone and uses the Dubai Strategic Plan 2015 as a starting point. To translate the leadership's wise vision into reality, its pillars have been mapped into six national priorities that represent the key focus sectors for the years leading up to 2021 to drive Dubai's transformation into one of the best cities in the world. The plan mandates the Dubai government as the custodian of all aspects of city development.
A wholly-owned entity of the government of Dubai, DSO operates as a free zone technology park for large enterprises, medium and small companies looking to set up their offices in Dubai.
