Yoga - Camel pose
Try the camel pose to get rid of backache and thyroid ailments. Ushtrasana, also known as the camel pose, loosens up the vertebral column and provides
strength and flexibility. This asana is a boon for those suffering from backache. It also tones the neck region and regulates the thyroid gland. It keeps the body agile and fit.
Ushtrasana
* Start in Vajrasana and kneel on the mat, keeping back straight and hands by the sides.
* Slowly lean backwards, taking right hand to right heel and then left hand to left heel. Do not strain the back.
* Push abdomen forward while keeping thighs in a vertical position and dropping head back as far as possible.
* Inhale while getting into this position and breathe normally.
* Hold for 10-30 seconds.
* Slowly return to the start position by releasing hands one by one and sit in Vajrasana.
* Bend forward and stretch the back.
Benefits
* Improves the digestive and reproductive systems by massaging all the internal organs.
* Alleviates constipation by stretching the intestines.
* Improves blood circulation in the spinal cord and stimulates the spinal nerves.
* Helps in correcting drooping shoulders and relieves back pain.
* Regulates the functioning of the thyroid glands.
