The first bird flu related death in 2013 has been confirmed by the director of health in Dakahlia, Egypt.A medical source confirmed that the patient - 29 years old- was working as grain trader, and had the disease for some time.
The patient had visited many private hospitals before the disease was discovered, as he had a severe distrust of government hospitals
The source added; "we managed to conduct a scanner to his throat and got samples from the patient. The family was refusing the diagnosis until three different laboratories confirmed his illness"
"He was given medicine but his condition was too far advanced to remedy," the source said.
