Dubai Derma four-day pre-conference courses come ahead of the Dubai World Dermatology and Laser Conference and Exhibition which will commence next Tuesday, 7th of April, and will last for three days at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre. Dubai Derma is held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance and Chairman of the Dubai Health Authority, and it is organized annually by INDEX Conferences and Exhibitions - a member of INDEX Holding.
Dubai Derma Pre-conference courses cover several topics that are of great benefit to all participants especially those applying for the Arab Board of Dermatology Exam. Some of the topics discussed this year during the four days pre-conference courses include: Advanced Therapeutics, Alopecia, Basic & Advanced Clinical Dermatology, Clinical Cases for the Boards, Highlight of Arab Board Residency Program, Inflammatory Skin Diseases, Invisible Dermatoses, Skin Tumors, Surgery for Dermatologist, Systemic Therapy and Topical Therapy, Unknown Cases in Dermatopathology, and Updates on Phototherapy and Laser.
In addition to the key topics that will be covered during the pre-conference courses, a "Mock Exam" will be conducted to simulate the environment of the Arab Board of Dermatology Exam allowing the participants to feel acquainted and at ease for the real board exam. The 'Mock Exam' will comprise of questions not only covered during the pre-conference courses, but those that may be asked during the actual exam. In addition, participants with the highest 3 grades will be honored with cash prizes.
The courses are considered an excellent opportunity for dermatologists under training who need the credit hours presented by the UAE University as pre-conference courses are accredited with 24 CME points from College of Medicine, UAE University.
Dr. Hassan Galadari, Head of Scientific Committee of Dubai Derma Conference & Exhibition, said: "Dubai Derma's scientific program is extremely rich and is a reflection of the field of dermatology as a whole. However, given the large scope of the program and its depth, it is important to focus on the high yield material that is the basis of the pre-conference course. While, the main program helps the clinician, the pre-conference course focuses mainly on the trainees and those who have been in practice, but seek a refresher of need to know material."
Commenting on his participation in the pre-conference courses, Dr. Clay J. Cockerell, Clinical Professor of Dermatology and Pathology at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and President of Cockerell Dermatopathology Laboratories, said: "I am very excited to share new developments in the diagnosis and treatment of a number of different cutaneous disorders, ranging from melanocytic neoplasia to inflammatory skin diseases with my colleagues in the Gulf Region."
Moreover, Dr. Reem El Bahtimi, Medical Director, Consultant Pathologist and Director of Dermatopathology at the National Reference Laboratory, said: "I have been involved with Dubai Derma pre-conference courses for the past 10 years. It is my honor to be part of this four day course that is highly recommended and acknowledged by the dermatologists in the ME region. In my session, I will be focusing on Dermatopathology, which is the study of skin pathology. Dermatopathology plays a crucial role in understanding the pathophysiology of diseases, and in managing and treating patients. Knowledge in dermatopathology allows the dermatologist to take the right biopsy, understand the pathology report with its limitations and challenges as well as treat the patient appropriately."
Dr. Reem El Bahtimi added: "The Dermatopathology pre-conference course covers various topics from basic inflammatory conditions to Melanocytic, Adnexal and Lymphoproliferative disorders. Three speakers usually participate in the Dermatopathology module and we try to cover as many topics as possible without repetition from year to year."
On the sidelines of the pre-conference courses, a Comprehensive Filler and Botox Course will be taking place this year on 6th of April at Novotel hotel, in which 6 specialized doctors will discuss topics such as Facial Anatomy in Aesthetic Medicine, Advances in Botulinum Toxin, Mid Face Augmentation and Non-Surgical Nose Reshaping.
