The number of deaths from Diabetes complications is expected to double
Dubai - Jamal Al Majaida

The number of deaths from Diabetes complications is expected to double A study published by the World Health Organisation (WHO) discovered the number of death cases due to diabetes will double by 2030 with 4.6 million people around the world will die due to diabetes in this year alone.
285Million people across the world are diagnosed with diabetes, this is expected to climb to 438 million in the next two decades with 7.8% of adults suffering the disease.
Dr. Khalid el-Ghofaily is a diabetes specialist and general supervisor for diabetes cases at the German Saudi hospital in Dubai. Khalid said \"there is no doubt that the  biggest cause of death in diabetes cases is late disease diagnosis. Early examinations can control complications which would otherwise result in death\".
There are several types of diabetes but the most common is type two which forms 95% of cases, it is well-known that diabetes rates increase in high income places. In this context Dr. Ghofaily says \"80% of type two diabetes cases can be prevented through improving nutrition habits, offering patients a healthy environment.”
Dr. Ghofaily listed the symptoms for detecting the presence of diabetes such as excessive thirst, frequent urination, fatigue and decreasing weight. The more dangerous symptoms including weak vision, sores, twitching of the hands and legs, reduced circulation and swelling of gums.
The age category of 40 to 59 are the most at risk Dr. Ghofaily said \"the elderly are the most prone to developing diabetes, but there are a significant amount of cases in young people as it can be genetic. I want to advise every person to avoid food and drinks with too much calories and carbohydrates and also on the importance of sport and exercise. Diabetes can develop in any one at any time if they don’t take the necessary precautions to minimise it\".
Despite the role of insulin in organising the body\'s functions and returning patients back to their normal state, diabetes itself can\'t cause death. Death is caused by complications and accompanying illness like kidney failure, heart disease, strokes and amputations in some patients with terminally deteriorating cases, due to all these reasons doctors advise to make periodic tests detecting diabetes before it becomes an illness which can\'t be controlled.
