Zac Posen\'s Spring 2014 show
Zac Posen gave attendees of his New York Fashion Week presentation a moment for romance on Sunday.
Stars like Christina Hendricks, Molly Sims, Kelly Osbourne
and Stacy Keibler lined the front row of Posen\'s Spring 2014 show, and it\'s no surprise: The designer is a red carpet mainstay, his from-another-era gowns worked to fit the sartorial expectations of modern fashion followers.
For this collection, Posen worked to create a \"conceptual evening,\" rife with layers of tulle, ruffles and silk flowers in the models\' messy updos. Some of his more successful looks were the most simple: the opening number—a pale pink silk chiffon frock—worn by Coco Rocha, a strapless (and weightless, by all appearances) dove-gray gown on model Lindsey Wixson.
We also loved the ankle-strap heels the models wore—but then, it\'s hard to go wrong with Manolo Blahnik.
While many of his young designer counterparts turned an eye to the nineties for inspiration, Posen looked to the nineteenth century, citing French actress Sarah Bernhardt as a primary influence. That devotion to the past may make his pieces more difficult to wear for the street style generation, but on the red carpet his designs will continue to romance.
