Egyptian Nubian frame drummers NubaNour
Master Nubian frame drummers NubaNour are set to make their London debut at Rich Mix with an enchanting evening of music from the banks of the River Nile.
The Cairo-based collective perform traditional Nubian songs and
dance from antiquity alongside contemporary acoustic folk songs reflecting the ongoing struggles of a life in exile for the Nubian people after the loss of their homelands in the 1960s following the construction of the Aswan High Dam.
NubaNour’s Tall Tales from the Blue Nile EP will be released on cassette by 30iPS Records on 3 June 2013
The event comes as part of Shubbak Festival - Shubbak, Window on Contemporary Arab Culture running throughout June in London.
