Murex Do’r awards ceremony held in Lebanon casino inside Ambassadors hall witnessed many gabs and shortcomings which caused many mistakes such as, honoring Lebanese actress Ward Al Khal for her leading role in “Khatoun 1” series in which she never participated, but she participated in “Khatoun 2” that hasn’t been broadcasted yet. Many artistes were awarded within different categories such as, Lebanese Singing Superstar, but in fact the actual name of this category is Arabic and Gulf Singing Superstar.
Moroccan singer Saad L’mjarred was awarded “The most popular star in 2016” while in fact he was in prison in Paris, and was also awarded for his song “You’re mistaken” which he presented shortly before he go to prison. It is also known that, Lebanese singer Wael Kfoury is awarded every year despite the fact that, in 2016 he only made one single song.
Lebanese actor Ramy Ayash was given “Best Actor” award for his role in “Prince of the night” despite the fact he was heavily criticized for his bad acting and faults in the drama, but his popularity was a factor in such decision.
Singer Balqis was forced in the competition and was asked to hit the stage to receive her award despite the fact she wasn’t even in Lebanon to attend the ceremony as she already apologized for not coming on her Twitter account because the Emirati government is preventing its citizen from travelling to Beirut. Tunisian singer, Shaima Hilali made few songs that weren’t very successful and has been absent for a while yet, she was given the “Arab Young Singing star” award.
Murex D’or judges’ committee thought “Love you, polite” video clip for singer Cyrine Abdel Nour was the best, despite it wasn’t very popular and “Put dots over letters” video clip was much more successful.
The ceremony witnessed many faults, and most of the attendants only came to show off their clothes, but many superstars refused to attend such as, Ragheb Alama and Assi El Hellani.
