Egyptian actress Elham Shahin
Egyptian actress Elham Shahin said President Mohamed Morsi personally denounced conservative TV channel “El-Hafez” attacks against her.
Shahin has been locked in a court case against Sheikh Abdullah Badr after he made
comments in his television show criticising and “insulting” the actress.
The next court session will be held on November 19 to present documented evidence in the case.
In an interview with Arabstoday in Abu Dhabi she said: "The presidency spokesman Dr Yasser Ali has informed me that President Morsi demanded an investigation into my case.”
She added: "The Egyptian recent state is not encouraging new movies; even audiences are not interested in going to the cinema.”
The actress said she will star in a new drama called “Asr el-Harim” (The Era of Women) by director Enas el-Deghedy. The series will address women’s suppression in Egypt.
She also said she will be working in three feature films after Eid al-Adha.
