Egyptian actor Youssef Shaaban
Famed Egyptian actor Youssef Shaaban expressed his happiness at being honoured by the Moroccan Short Film Festival in Casablanca
.
Giving his first interview in Morocco, the actor told Arab Today that he has heard good things about Moroccan cinema but has not explored it.
Speaking about the political situation in Egypt, Shaaban stated that the revolution can no longer be counted as one since the Muslim Brotherhood acquired power. He said that he supported the uprising in 2011, but now prefers the toppled regime of Hosni Mubarak to current President Mohammed Morsi. The actor claimed that the Muslim Brotherhood does not like culture and the arts.
Shaaban expects that the coming demonstrations of June 30 against the government will settle things and determine Egypt’s future.
The star recently postponed filming scenes for his latest series Al-Namroud due to the political instability.
