Actress Hala Fakher
Cairo - Wafaa Lotfy

A number of Egyptian artists involved in promoting for fake and misleading commodities through participating in their ads broadcasted in satellite channels and internet websites. According to official, those artists could face trial.

Chairperson of Consumer Protection Agency Atif Yacob revealed that the Egyptian authorities could take serious steps to refer those artists to the trial to take the legal measures against them. He added that the Egyptian prosecution summoned actress Hala Fakher to investigations, while she has not appeared before the authorities.

He added that the authorities have not summoned Singer Ehab Tawfiq to the investigations yet, stressing that the prosecution will resume its measures against those artists during the coming period.

He added, in a statement to “Arabs Today”, that the Egyptian authorities took legal measures against “Thailand Pharma” company for its fake ads led by Egyptian actor Mahmoud Al Jendy. He added the Egyptian actor will also be summoned for the investigations.

He stressed that the artists should realize that the false companies work to use the popularity of the Egyptian actors and artists not only in the country but also in the Arab world as whole to promote for their fake commodities, saying that their participation in such ads could lead them to legal accountability.
