The Sudan Mineral Resource Co, Sudamin, affiliated to the Ministry of Minerals, which was setup to regulate the artisanal miners, announced on Wednesday that it has delivered the third tranche of its production, amounting to 120 kg of gold to the Ministry of Finance.
The Sudanese Minister of Minerals Ahmed Mohamed Sadiq Al-karuri said that the number of large companies producing gold has increased to 34 companies in the country.
Al-karuri added, in his speech during the ceremony of the delivery of gold produced by Sudamin, that these companies will increase the production of formal mining sector gradually, noting that Sudamin is planned to produce 0.5 ton of gold by the end of this year. He pointed out that the production of gold is not the primary task for this company, but the providing of services to companies operating in the mining sector.
Al-karuri pointed out that the company secures financial supply to the Sudanese treasury since the last year, asserting that they work actively to develop this company and other companies for further production.
Director General of Sudamin Kamal Hassan Al-Haj said that the current gold delivery amounting to 120 kg is the tranche of the company's production. He added that the company has produced so far more than 300 kg of gold, revealing that they are working on the installation of another factory of the company which will start production after three months.
Al-Haj announced that the company is negotiating over the establishment of the ‘Mines City’ in partnership with German and Emirati companies.
