The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry “SCCI” held a workshop on Wednesday thatdiscussedThe Sharjah Economic Excellence Network (ShjSEEN) Award, and gave insightful information on theSharjah’s Top 10 Businesses Award, and its latest category,“the Sharjah TourismExcellence Award” (STEA), which was sponsored by the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority,following an MOU with SCCI earlier this month, in order to raise competition between enterprises in the tourism sector, as well as to highlight the importance of this sector and the need to support it on anational level.
The workshop saw the participation ofHEKhalid Al-Midfa, Chairman of SCTDA, as well as HE Khaled Bin Butti Al-Hajri, Director General of SCCI, and Mohammed Ahmed Amin, Assistant Director General for the sectors of Communication and Business, and Nada Al Hajri General Coordinator of Sharjah’s Economic Excellence Award, and number of officials from both sides, in addition to a large number of those concerned with the tourism and economic growth in Sharjah.
In a welcoming speech, HE Khalid Al-Midfa, stressed on the "importance of cooperation and coordination between government and private institutions operating within Sharjah, toenable the tourism sector to play a more prominent role, as a vital tributary of the economy in the emirate."
Al-Midfa also praised the MOU, recently signed SCCI and SCTDA,describing it as modelfor all those working in institutions across the Emirate. He also stressed the "Chamber's commitment to provide maximum cooperation and support for all its strategic partners in various sectors, particularly in the tourism sector, to ensure the realization of Sharjah’s 2021 Tourism vision, and maximizinginvestment opportunities in theEmirate, which has become a key touristic destination, attracting tens of thousands of Arab and foreign tourists every year.”
Al-Midfa also urged the workshop’s participants, calling on all institutions to cooperate with ShjSEEN through active participation in all the award categories, particularly Sharjah’s Award for Top 10 businesses,which adopts a “European Foundation for Quality Management" (EFQM) - a comprehensive management framework used by over 30,000 companies worldwide.
Meanwhile, HE Khaled Bin Butti Al Hajri, Director General of SCCI, said that the award "seeks to support businesses working in the private sector, to improve their performance through the implementation of an excellence model, and encouraging them to raise the bar for quality,and enable business growth. He also added that ShjSEEN is committed in providing training and evaluation by professional experts and advisers to achieve these goals”.
Bin Butti also praised the "key cooperation between the chamber and the authority that saw the signing of an MOU between the two parties, with the aim of achieving common objectives; to promote Sharjah as an ideal destination for living, work, investment and tourism, by raising the level of interaction and competition between various sectors and tourism businesses.”
The MOU stipulates the inclusion of the Tourism Excellence Award, which is sponsored by the authorityunder the tourism sector in Sharjah’s Economic Excellence Award, that awards top tenbusinesses. It also paves the way for further cooperation and exchange of information between the two parties, by providing support in finding candidates to join the ShjSEEN award.
Moreover, Nada Al-Hajri, General Coordinator of ShjSEEN, stressed that assessing the nominations prior to the award will be based onefficiency, professionalism, leadership, and tangible results. Adding that the award aimsto promote the successes of greatbusinesses and business innovators”.
SCCI had launched the "Sharjah Award for the topten businesses ", to honor successfulcompanies in this field, through supportingbusinesses in the private sector, as well as encouraging them to raise their performance level, leading to their nomination for the award, which is through invitation only.
Businesses that are invited to apply for these rewards must fall under these ten categories, which include industry: trade, retail, real estate, business services, tourism and hospitality, construction, financial services, transportation and logistics, and the sectors of education, health care, and e-services.
ShjSEENAwards are widely supported byHis Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, and under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Bin Sultan Al-Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah.
