Tayeb Louh has thanked the European Union for its support
The Algerian Labour and Employment Minister, Tayeb Louh has claimed that Algeria funded more than 100,000 development projects to provide 453,000 citizen with jobs through the National Labour Agency, in 2012
. He revealed that the ministry is running the Agency to improve services and provide the largest possible number of jobs.
Speaking at an employment forum in Algiers, Louh said there is a need to develop the employment sector in line with global developments.
He confirmed that the government had allocated €15.34 million to improve performance of the Agency. €14.1 million came from a European Union fund and the remaining €1.24 million was from the government.
Louh explained that under plans, the Agency will be given technical support with the development of a new computerised system to allow employees to prepare accurate statistics regarding the labour market in Algeria.
Furthermore, the minister praised Algeria's partnership with the European Union and considered it a complementary step to the actions being taken by the government.
The new strategy is to cope with the unemployment rate which fell from 17.96 percent to 9.96 percent in 2012.
Chairman of the European Union delegation in Algeria, Markle Skolel, described the partnership with Algeria in the field of labour as "successful," because it achieved tangible results by raising the number of jobs and reducing the unemployment rate.
