Basra Folklore Band at Cinema and Theatre department is getting ready to present a big concert at the National Theatre on Monday, where there will be different folklore acts from Basra that tell the history of the country.
The concert will also present acts by Al-Khashabah band led by Saad Al-Yabas that will revive the Iraqi art in a new form. General Director of Cinema and Theatre department Iqbal Naim said that, the department will award 3 major artists including, Abdul Jabbar al-Tamimi and Saad al-Yabas with Cinema and Theatre shield as an appreciation for their artistic works.
Basra Folklore Band participated in many Arab and regional festivals representing Basra art. It also participated in Doha Folklore Festival few days ago, where it caught the attention of all the audience and international and Gulf media, along with its participation in Dubai through “Al Awees” culture organization.
Forming this band to present Basra folklore was a necessity, as Basra has always been known as the center of arts, music and singing, despite all the hard circumstances and the culture neglect. Basra Band includes academic young people with different musical majors, musicians, specialists in folklore and Basra art, along with different Iraqi arts. This band aims to preserve the Iraqi heritage through music and art that distinguishes Basra from all other cities of the Gulf.
